Confederation Power Hydro Limited Partnership is in the process of developing 15+ hydro electric projects in the Anyox and Kitsault areas. These represent over 140MW of new green renewable power developments available to help the Province of British Columbia, and Canada reduce their carbon footprint and meet future energy requirements. The economic benefit to the local communities, First Nations, and the Province will be considerable, as over $600 million in investment will be required to build out the suite of projects. The current and future partnerships with local suppliers, contractors and First Nations groups will provide a strong boost to the northwestern BC economy. The Anyox cluster of projects is located approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Stewart, British Columbia on the shares of the Observatory Inlets, while the Kitsault ones are approximately half way in between. In the early 1900/’s both areas were the site of commercial mining operations, complete with thriving towns, infrastructure, rail service, and recreational facilities. Hydro electricity projects were also built to supply power to the mines and towns. These sites were effectively dismantled and vacated by 1940. Confederation Power Hydro LP/’s plan is to refurbish two legacy dam storage hydro projects, and construct 13+ run of river projects, all of which would benefit from common infrastructure and built programs. This web site has been established to give visitors a sense of the historical usage of the area, and to provide some insights into the work being preformed at the sites. Confederation Power Hydro Limited Partnership is primarily managed by Confederation Power Inc. For more information on Confederation Power Inc. please visit www.confedpower.com |
