Mining Map of the Nass Region

Mining was an essential part of British Columbia’s growing economy in the 1920s’, and Company Towns such as Anyox were not unheard of at the time.

Just 28 kilometers (18 miles) up the channel named “Alice Arm,” which was named after Alice Mary Tomlinson the wife of the Reverent Robert Tomlinson a local missionary, existed two of BC’s more iconic Company Towns. They were Silver City (now known as Kitsault) and Alice Arm, home of the legendary Dolly Varden Silver Company Mines that dotted along the Kitsault River Valley.
